Nycograde Polysucrose 400

Nycograde Polysucrose 400 is a synthetic high molecular weight polymer made by the co-polymerization of sucrose and epichlorohydrin. The molecules have a branched structure with a high content of hydroxyl groups giving a good solubility in aqueous media. The product is similar to Ficoll 400 from Pharmacia Biotech. Polysucrose 400 is readily soluble in aqueous solutions when added slowly with stirring. Concentrations up to 50% (w/v) can easily be prepared. Polysucrose 400 has the following specifications:
Molecular weight: 400,000 ± 100,000
Intrinsic viscosity: 0.17 ± 0.03
Specific rotation: 56.0 ± 3.0
pH (10% solution): 7.5 ± 0.5
